Timothy Chalamet has offered the first look of his upcoming film “Wanka”, taking to social media to share a picture of his favorite chocolate-like outfit (including his own familiar hat).
The actor posted the photo on his Instagram “Suspense is terrible, I hope it lasts,” referring to a line from Jean Wilder’s character Wanker, the original 1971 adaptation of “Willie Wanka and the Chocolate Factory”. Chalamet posted the photo on his Twitter, and Warner Bros. shared it via Facebook and Instagram.
While plot details are being kept secret, the Warner Bros. prequel will report how Willie Wanka became a prominent candymaker. The production has been billed as a musical instrument, with representatives of Chalamet confirming that the actor will sing and dance in the film.
Willie Wanka was created by the famous author Roald Dahl. The character debuted in the 14-year-old novel “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, which follows a poor boy named Charlie Bucket, who won a gold ticket to visit the wonderful and terrifying chocolate factory run by Wanka. The book has been adapted to the screen twice, with Johnny Depp as Wilder in 1971 and Tim Burton in the 2005 film.
Paul King, the director behind the “Paddington” series, is directing “Wanka”. Produced by David Heyman. In addition to Chalammet, the cast includes Rowan Atkinson, Sally Hawkins, Olivia Coleman, Keegan-Michael Key and others. “Wanka” will hit theaters on March 17, 2023.
