Warner Records & R’s Steve “Steve O” has named Carles President, a new position on the Warner Music Group label that houses artists such as Dua Lipa, Sweetie David Guetta and Anita. Carles’ start date is December 1 and he will report to Co-Chairman and CEO Aaron Bay-Shack and work closely with Julian Petty, EVP / Head of Business and Legal and Chris Atlas, EVP, Urban Music and Marketing, an announcement issued today. Among the achievements of the experienced executive is the success Polo G যা whom he co-manages-Gigi, Big Shawn, and the late Nipsey Husley. He has played senior A&R and creative roles at Deaf Jam Recordings, Atlantic Records and Republic Records. He also served as president of Uptown Records where he worked with Carles Nipsi Hussell and Big Scene as well as YG, GG, 2 Chains, Dave East and Pusha T and more.
Prior to Warner, Carles was the Executive VP of A&R at Republic Records, Universal Music Group. She began her musical career in 2003 as an office assistant at Star Trek Entertainment, the home of Neptune. The following year, he joined Def Jam Recording as director of lifestyle and radio broadcasts. In 2012, he moved to Atlantic Records, where he oversaw YG and GG’s projects, as well as presiding over GG’s Atlanta-based CTE World Recordings. He returned to Def Jam in 2015 as Senior Director of A&R and Special Projects before becoming Senior VP of A&R, Artist Relations and Development. He co-founded Best of Both Office, a lifestyle branding company, in 2005 and was an organizer of the Republican Records Action Committee and a member of the UMG’s Meaningful Change Task Force. In 2014, he co-founded Marathon Agency and began managing Husal’s career. In 2019, she worked with Beyonc পার’s Parkwood Entertainment to help A&R with the visual albums on her albums, “The Lion King: The Gift” and “Black Is King”.
