WarnerMedia Announces Various Executives for Universal Music Asia – Various2 min read
Several executives have found new places in the Asian music and content industries.
- WarnerMedia Entertainment Networks and Sales has appointed Athreyan Sundarajan as VP of Marketing and Brand Services for Southeast Asia and the Pacific (SEP) region. In the newly created, Singapore-based role he has starred in HBO, Cinema X, Warner TV, Cartoon Network, Boomerang and Oh! Who will oversee the brands. Sundararajan, who came to WarnerMedia from Fox Network Group, has been Senior Vice President of Marketing and Commercial Strategy for Hong Kong and Southeast Asia since 2006. He will now report to WarnerMedia’s SEP and China Managing Director Clement Schwabig, who praised the new recruits’ “extensive experience across the region.”
- Meanwhile, WarnerMedia’s animation brand Crunchioral has appointed Julian Lai-hank as head of Tokyo-based content strategy and business development, focusing on Japan and Asia-Pacific. CrankIroll unveiled its own source earlier this year in an effort to add more than a thousand title values to its existing anime library. Lai-Hang said it would help the team “identify new partnerships and creative opportunities”, monitor content strategies and initiate key topics, re-hired themselves in January as part of Global Lai-Hang’s previous role as Netflix’s director of content and anime in the region. - Meanwhile, Universal Music Publishing Group announced on Tuesday that Joe Fang will be serving as China managing director for the first time at its new Beijing headquarters. He will report to Andrew Jenkins, president of the firm in Australia and Asia Pacific. Fang was most recently head of production at Base Media and previously served as media chief business director at real estate developer China Fortune Land Development. Mark Simno, COO of the company, said that Universal Music Publishing Group has “placed a strong and strategic emphasis on the growth of UMPG in China”, adding that the country has “become a very exciting region for our lyricists.”
