Coldplay premiered the video on YouTube for their new collaboration with BTS, “My Universe”.
The “My Universe” video is set in the remote galaxy of The Spheres where music is banned, but BTS, Coldplay and an alien supergroup called Supernova 7 converge via hologram to violate the ban. Singing in English and Korean, in the new track, both bands talk about the endless possibilities of love, use cosmic metaphors, and use synth-like words outside of this world. “There is a heaven that they could not grasp, that bright infinity inside your eyes. You are my universe, and I want to put you first, ”sang Coldplay lead singer Chris Martin. The video was directed by Dave Meyers, who directed Coldplay’s “High Power” video.
“My Universe” is taken from Coldplay’s upcoming album “Music of the Spears”, which is slated for release on October 15. Produced by Max Martin, “Music of the Spheres” is Coldplay’s ninth studio album and contains 12 tracks, five of which are represented by emojis, including a red heart, an infinity sign and a planet. This solo release is the band’s third sign for the album, Coldplay released the album’s first single “Hire Power” in May, followed by “Coloratura” in July.
