YouTube has canceled “Escape the Night” after four seasons, ending its longest running original series, Diversity Confirming the semi-scripted murder-mystery series was hosted by Joe Gracifa, who presided over the retro mega-collab, where a famous YouTuber died in each episode.

However, Gracefa is not letting “Escape the Night” fade.

In a video posted on Wednesday, he confirmed that the show’s 5th season is not happening “this year” but that he has left the door open for a possible return to the series (in a different light). “I don’t know when the 5th edition will take place,” Grasifa said.

Also, Gracefa teased a new interactive fan version of “Escape the Night” which she said she has been working on for the past year. “I get a lot of comments, like, ‘You should have a fan season of’ Avoid the Night ‘, and like,’ Escort of the Night ‘would be a lot of fun to be able to play.”

Gracefa showed fans on the signup page of the backkirt website for this project. The game-chat service for those who registered was conducted in a group called Discord. The “Escape the Night” group still in Discord has more than 22,000 members.

“You were invited to travel on time in 1920 to a house … the house of EV Will!” Grasafar said in an email to fans who have signed up for the new project. “You need all the skills and techniques to make it come alive before sunrise. If you want to escape at night, choose your colleagues carefully! “

Grasifa is creating interactive offspots for “Escape the Night” in collaboration with Studio 71, the digital network she signed last year.

The word “Escape the Night” came from YouTube after the video’s monster wounded virtually the entire scripted slate. Give the name. Other scripted series have failed to find new homes for the YouTube that shut them down.

Focusing on personality, learning materials, music and special coronavirus-related programming – YouTube’s Originals has moved to unspecified projects with everything available for viewing in the free, ad-supported portion of the service. YouTube is expected to announce new projects in the Brandcast online presentation for marketers on Thursday.

“Escape the Night” is produced by Gracefa and Brian Grayden Media. Gracefa, 29, has more than 12 million subscribers to her YouTube channels. He has expanded his creative and business projects outside of YouTube to include music, merchandise, a memoir and three dystopian youth-acquired novels.
